Greetings,

A very happy (belated, but still) welcome to the new semester. As most of you might have guessed, the BioBytes SRG is now more than an year old (Yay!), and now its time for the current crew to hand over the responsibilities of the SRG to the new one. So, say hello to the new managers: Vipul Ramtekkar and Soham Dibyanchintan, and the new convener: Jeyapriya TJ.

Vipul Ramtekkar is a 3rd year undergraduate from the chemical engineering Department, and is very enthusiatic regarding simulating biological systems, particularly in genetics. He also dabbles in image processing, and is in general interested in the pillars of this SRG: biology and Artificial Intelligence.

Soham Dibyachintan is another 3rd Year undergraduate from the chemical engineering department, and he's been associated with the group since the last year. Currently interested in Systems Biology and the bioinformatics side of machine learning, he also wanders off to other fields in biology, especially related to evolutionary dynamics.

Jeyapriya TJ (Priya Tj) is, however, a 1st year Master's student from the Biosciences and Bioengineering Department. She's new to the insti, but not to the core fields of biology. Her research interests focus on evolution and immunology, and she also finds herself intrigued with the technological applications to these fields (mainly from nanotechnology).

So, that's that - and with it, its time I and Shashwat took our leave from our posts as conveners for the SRG. Both I and Shashwat are grateful to you guys for letting us manage this wonderful group, and to come to the talks, sessions etc. we organized (away from your cozy beds and rooms, I'm afraid). You guys stuck with us through all the slip-ups we managed to do, and for that, we are really thankful. We got to learn so much more than we expected, and we hope we could help you guys on your respective journeys. Loads of people were important for the SRG flourishing today, of which the foremost were the former BioTech Managers and conveners, former STAB OC Chirag Shetty and everyone on that thread that started this SRG. And of course the people who have joined us in the previous year, given talks, seminars etc. So, thanks to you all, and we would never forget this roller coaster ride that our "convener-ship" was.

Signing off for the last time,

Archit Bhatnagar and Shashwat Shukla

(Now-Former) Conveners of BioBytes SRG

PS: Shashwat would still be around and with the group, providing valuable (atleast, he thinks it is) advice and guidance to the new crew at the helm.

Hope to see at the next talk!

Best regards,
