They ran as a group to deliver the torch, again carried by Rattigan, to the Homecoming celebration. Shaking cow bells, Profs cheered and waved pennants and pompoms as the Pride of the Profs Marching Band welcomed them back to campus.
Started in 1958 with a 56-mile run by 40 runners from Trenton to Glassboro for Homecoming, the Torch Run continued annually in the 1960s. In 1962, 26 runners carried a seven-pound lighted brass torch from the Statehouse to Glassboro, completing the entire journey in 5 hours, 35 minutes.
Centennial Torch Run athletes carried a lightweight, unlit replica torch as they wound their way through South Jersey. Rowan Public Safety and Emergency Medical Services personnel accompanied the runners throughout their route. The team rode in a 20-passenger bus as the runners each completed their two miles.
But how does libtorch (a collection of precompiled binaries and headers) relate to ordinary pytorch.
Is it just the pytorch backend bundled up together with the novel C++ frontend? Or is there somethign more to it?
To explain with further detail, all of the PyTorch backend (ATen, Caffe2, the CPU and GPU bits) is packaged up into libcaffe2.so and libcaffe2_gpu.so and a few other minor bits. libtorch.so links to these and also includes the C++ API bits.
Among those who participated was a Fairfax County Police Department member with an exceptional task. Peter Flynn, the director of Intergovernmental Affairs, served as a torch runner as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, raising awareness and funds.
Flynn and several officers were in Chicago last month at Soldier Field and lit a torch from the Flame of Hope and began their journey from Chicago to Orlando. The torch traveled to several cities, including Cleveland, New York City, and Philadelphia.
Once in Orlando, Flynn and the torch runners participated in a parade at Disney World. They also visited Orlando Health, a sponsor for the Special Olympics, which provided health care for all participating athletes.
Afterward, they arrived at the Special Olympics headquarters and participated in the lighting of the torch to begin the Special Olympics. Flynn says the run was primarily to spread the message of inclusion.
