We study cell death signaling pathways in cancers in order to identify key molecules for the development of new cancer therapeutics and novel prognostic biomarkers (e.g. Nat Rev Drug Discov, 11, 109-24, 2012; Leukemia. 2011 Dec 16. [Epub ahead of print]; Oncogene, 2011 Aug 8. [Epub ahead of print]).

> The current projects will focus on the elucidation of new cell death signaling pathways in cancer (apoptosis, necroptosis, autophagy) using primary tumor samples, cancer cell lines and mouse tumor models. Successful applicants have the opportunity to participate in the International Graduate School in Biomedicine at Frankfurt and in our international research networks on apoptosis (e.g. EU projects).
