Hi there,
We’re expanding our zebrafish operation here and several issues have been raised regarding the optimal lighting requirements for the fish.
I’ve read where 5-30 lumens/ft.2 at the water surface is the optimal light intensity. I’ve also read that the wavelength is not very important, so regular fluorescent lamps should be fine, especially any tending towards full-spectrum.
Where I haven’t been able to find any info., is regarding the effect of graduated on/off lighting on zebrafish breeding, and the possibility of a wavelength that zebrafish do not detect, that could be used as a night light, to prevent premature breeding when entering during the dark.

Your assistance with these questions is greatly appreciated.Thanks...Vishal
