Dear Amyloid subscribers:

Well after nearly a year of hoping that discussion would be self-generating
on the amyloid newsgroup, I must admit my error. Discussion does not seem
to come easily to the Alzheimer community. There have been a few postings
about meetings, but there has been little to generate informed
discussion. Can I remind people that this is one of the few open fora for
posting Alzheimer-related items on the internet.

Perhaps this is the opportunity to try something different. We could try
to air a few controversial issues in this forum and ask the major opponents
in this debate to give their views.

One idea would be to discuss topics like:

Is presenilin-1 identical to the gamma-secretase? There have been several
papers which have addressed this topic, but discussion still rages. I have
my own view ... but ...

Any thoughts?
