Position Summary:
A post-docotoral fellowship relating to
peptide chemistry is available to conduct research in
an immunology laboratory. We are identifying peptides
and peptide analogs from combinatorial libraries with
constrained structures that fit various MHC motifs.
The peptides will be tested for the ability to bind to
MHC and also to trigger T cells via the T cell
receptor in cancer and autoimmunity models. The goal
of this research is to identify and develop peptide
analogs that stimulate anti-tumor T cells as well as
peptide analogs that suppress autoimmune T cell
function in autoimmunity models. Structure-fuction
relationships of peptide analogs will allow us to
better understand T cell responses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct research relating to petide synthesis and
characterize novel peptides and peptide analogs.
Perform systheses of peptides and peptide analogs.
Participate in preliminary testing of peptides and
peptide analogs. Submit manuscripts for publication to
appropriate scientific, peer-reviewed journals.
Participate in grant renewals and resubmissions.
Provide assistance in training of staff and graduate
students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology,
Immunology, or Pharmacology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Individuals who possess experience in peptide
chemistry and small molecules synthesis with a strong
interest in immunology who also possess effective
communications skills will be given preference.
