Has anyone come across stirring bars that are NOT made of PTFE, but of e.g. glass or PS? I would like to graft PEG to the surface and that seems impossible with the PTFE coating that is standard.

I used to make my own micro-stir bars when I needed one: take some soft
(i.e. non-pyrex) glass tubing, score and break to the length needed, insert
an appropriate length of iron wire (e.g. a piece of straightened paper-clip)
then fuse the ends of the glass tube in a bunsen. These are non-magnetic
themselves but work fine on a standard stir plate with magnetic impeller.
