Post-doctoral Position to study Candida albicans

A post-doctoral position is available to study connections between
cell cycle progression, morphogenesis and transcriptional regulation
in Candia albicans, an important opportunistic dimorphic yeast
pathogen. Studies are focused on the roles of the C. albicans FKH2
transcription factor and the two C. albicans B-cyclins in these
processes. In addition, we are studying the contributions of
cytoskeleton components and other cell cycle regulators to C.
albicans morphogenesis. Our lab has participated in the development
of C. albicans whole genome microarrays, which will be used in some
of these studies. We are generating strains engineered for
time-lapse microscopy of fluorecently tagged proteins in wild-type
and mutant cells. The ideal candidate will have experience in yeast
cell biology, yeast molecular genetics and/or DNA microarray analysis
of yeast gene expression.

The University of Minnesota has a several research groups working on
C. albicans biology and pathogenesis as well as a vibrant community
of S. cerevisiae researchers. The Berman lab will be moving to the
new Molecular and Cellular Biology Building on the Minneapolis Campus
in late summer 2002. At that time, most Candida and S. cerevisiae
labs will be housed on a single floor of this state-of-the-art
research facility.

Interested candidates should send a letter of interest, a CV and the
names of three references to:
