The Department of Marine Resources (Center for Research and Advanced
Studies at Merida, CINVESTAV-Merida) in Merida, Mexico, has two openings
available for researchers working on marine plankton. One of the
openings is for phytoplankton ecology and the oother for zooplankton
(either general or icthyoplankton) ecology. A laboratory of plankton
ecology already exists, and it has the basic equipment and two
technicians (one is half-time).
CINVESTAV-Merida is a research and graduate-studies Mexican federal
institute. We offer both an M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in Marine Science.
The jobs involve mainly research and teaching at the graduate level. The
candidates must hold a Ph. D. in Oceanography or Marine Biology, speak
Spanish (or be willing to learn it), have a strong capacity for team
work and the ability to attract outside funding.
