All interested applicants should submit a letter of motivation, CV, and contact information for at least three references. For questions regarding the position, please contact Dr. Sue Hammoud at ham...@umich.edu.

The Hammoud Laboratory at the University of Michigan Medical School is seekinga highly motivated individualinterested in the fundamental principles of germ cell development or transgenerational epigenetic inheritance. Our two primary research interest includes: 1) Unraveling the molecular program of spermatogenesis -using single cell approaches. 2) Defining molecular carriers of epigenetic memory. These early studies aim to provide a fundamental understanding of germ cell biology and paternal contribution; the findings will have direct clinical and therapeutic relevance for infertility and fertility preservation.

The Hammoud lab is part of a highly collaborative environment we have extensive collaborations within the University of Michigan and abroad. We also have access to numerous state of the art core facilities and specialized equipment. Michigan has several opportunities for career development.

This is a 100%-time research position with an initial appointment for one year with possible extension depending on performance.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in life sciences or bioinformatics with a strong background in cell and molecular biology, genetics, epigenetics, transcriptional regulation, high-resolution microscopy, or bioinformatics. Experience with mouse models is essential. Additional qualities should include the ability to work in a team, a passion for scientific endeavor, and excellence in communication skills.

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.

Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the Michigan Center for Translational Pathology.

The focus of study for this position will be on implementing algorithms for genomic analyses and developing computational workflows by using next-generation sequencing and HT data; testing and optimizing various standard bioinformatics and statistics software tools and packages; contributing advanced data analyses to interdisciplinary projects; and working closely with biologists on developing any new assays and analyses.

The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. or M.D., Ph.D. and should have a strong background in in bioinformatics and applied biotechnology.

The Michigan Center for Translational Pathology (MCTP) is a collaborative effort to foster research advances in molecular medicine and apply those advances as quickly as possible to benefit patient care. The mission of our Center is to establish the University of Michigan as an international leader in discovery and characterization of disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets using an integrated multi-disciplinary, systems biology approach and establish a new paradigm of bringing personalized medicine to routine clinical care through the use of high-throughput sequencing. More information on MCTP can be found on our website: http://mctp.path.med.umich.edu/mctp/main/index.jsp
