Hello, all:
In Arabidopsis there is a pectate lyase-like gene. The  wild type plants with this gene  are susceptible  to powdery  mildew  pathogen, but the mutant plants without this gene are resistant to this pathogen.

Would you please help me to answer the following questions?

What are the possible function of this gene in plant disease resistance?
Please list as many possible functions as possible.
Please suggest as many resistance mechanisms as possible.
