A postdoctoral position is available immediately in Polly Hsu’s Lab at
Michigan State University to study mRNA translation in plant responses to
the environment. The candidates should have a background in plant molecular
biology. A strong interest in either stress response or mRNA translation is
preferred. Applicants should have at least one first-author peer-reviewed
research paper and demonstrate efficient scientific writing and

The successful candidate will generate/characterize mutants and transgenic
plants for genes of interests using molecular genetics, biochemical and
cell biology approaches. In addition, the candidate will have the
opportunity to work on RNA-seq/Ribo-seq library constructions and data
analysis. The candidate is expected to work independently while actively
collaborate with other members of the lab.
