We would like to draw your attention to the following Bioenergy session at AGU Fall meeting “B65: Environmental aspects of bioenergy production”. The session description is provided below. Please consider submitting abstract to this session. The abstract submission deadline is September 2.
B65: Environmental aspects of bioenergy production
As biofuel production expands globally, it is critical to understand the environmental consequences of cultivating biofuel crops. Knowledge gap exists on its probable impact on soil organic carbon pool, water resources, existing biodiversity, and greenhouse gas emissions. In this session, we will assess what is known or anticipated about environmental and sustainability factors associated with the cellulosic biofuels. We welcome papers quantifying the environmental impacts, designing standardized metrics and approaches, and using novel techniques to identify environmental trade-offs for biofuel production. Papers focusing on ecosystem models of biomass production and measurement techniques of energy, water and gas exchange are also encouraged.
