I'm working on a poster on inhibitors of protein kinases and its
therapeutic applications. Can someone point out to me useful sources in
the internet as well as good review articles on this topic?

Many thanks
Michelle

Dear ALL! I would also be very keen to know about sites/reviews
regarding available protein kinase inhibitors. We are just getting
into the field and are at a loss where to start!

A recent review was published in the journal of Pharmacological
Therapeutics (Pharmacol. Ther. Vol. 77, No. 2, pp81-114, 1988) by David S.
Lawrence and Jinkui Niu. Although it only covers the tyrosine kinase world
of inhibitors, it is a terrific source of current information and
summarizes just about every relevant compound out there. A very thorough
review. There was also a review article published in Science a few years
ago - I'll see if I can dig up that reference though I think that was also
aimed specifically at tyrosine kinases.

I don't know of any Web site devoted to kinases and phosphatases
inhibitors. However, one useful source of information is the
Calbiochem-Novabiochem company. They claim to have the most comprehensive
selection of kinase-related products, and they do have some useful
information in their catalogs and documentations. Their web site is :
http://www.calbiochem.com/

On the old-fashioned library side, you can try :
Kamb, A. (1998). "Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors and human cancer."
Curr Top Microbiol Immunol 227: 139-48.
Klohs, W. D., D. W. Fry, et al. (1997). "Inhibitors of tyrosine kinase."
Curr Opin Oncol 9(6): 562-8.
Groundwater, P. W., K. R. Solomons, et al. (1996). "Protein tyrosine kinase
inhibitors." Prog Med Chem 33: 233-329.
Lee, J. C. and J. L. Adams (1995). "Inhibitors of serine/threonine
kinases." Curr Opin Biotechnol 6(6): 657-61.
Meijer, L. (1995). "Chemical inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinases." Prog
Cell Cycle Res 1: 351-63.
MacKintosh, C. and R. W. MacKintosh (1994). "Inhibitors of protein kinases
and phosphatases." Trends Biochem Sci 19(11): 444-8.

Hope this helps.

Pierre
(Of course I'm not affiliated with Calbiochem)

Hi Fellow Researchers,

Please send the information to the list too. I too have started with the
kinase work, in fact casein kinases. Thank you.

Cheers,

Thomas
