We have developed a method of measuring cell culture growth by measuring
culture oxygen consumption and CO2 production in the head space of the
incubation flasks.
Tests were performed on isolated adipocytes cells from Sprague Dawley rats
during incubation over 30 hours at 37 degrees C. Cells were in suspension and
exposed to gentle shaking. 400 mg of tissue was used in preparation.
Second experiment was performed to assess viability of respirometery method to
differentiate between prostate cancer and normal tissue.
Third experiment was performed on growth of attached cancer cells during
incubation. All three experiments confirmed viability of the method and good
correlation between cell count and oxygen consumption/ CO2 production.
For anybody interested in receiving application notes from these experiments
please e-mail your street address.
