Prof. Joel Sussman (Weizmann Institute of Science Israel) is visiting our institute  during 14-17th February 2024.

He will be delivering a talk on 14th February as follows:

Talk Title: Do “Newly Born” orphan proteins resemble “Never Born” proteins? A study using deep learning algorithms

Date and time: February 14, 2025, 11 AM

Venue: Gargi Auditorium, BRIC-NCCS Pune

He will be available for interactions with faculties and students during 2 -5 PM on 14th February. Please contact me if you are interested.

Also, he will be conducting hands-on workshop on 'Proteopedia' on 17th February (Venue IISER Pune). If your lab members are interested, they can reach out to me or Gayathri Pannanghat (IISER Pune).

Brief Introduction about speaker:

Prof. Sussman research is focused on 3D structure/function of nervous system proteins, such as acetylcholinesterase (AChE), cholinesterase-like adhesion molecules (CLAMs), β-glucosidase, β-secretase, paraoxonase and intrinsically disordered proteins and has significantly contributed in the treatment of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's Disease & autism. He is also instrumental in setting up 'The Israel structural proteomics centre' and 'Proteopedia'
