Title:  Opportunities and challenges in development of immunotherapies for cancer

 

Abstract: 

We have witnessed a substantial investment in immune based therapies for cancer during the last two or three decades. These therapies have had a significant impact on survival of patients suffering from diverse cancers. However, significant unmet needs exist as many patients still don’t respond to such therapies and many relapse. These observations have led some of us to question if tumor immuno surveillance is an evolutionary conserved phenomenon. Future research is evolving towards gaining a better understanding of the origins of cancer and mechanisms of aging.
