Hello everyone,

I have a local biomart portal (version 0.7) running in my organization. Please, is it still possible to link this to the central B iomart portal and how do I achieve this?

Best regards,
Dami

Hi Dami,

Could you please elaborate on what do you mean by linking it to central BioMart portal ?

Best,
Syed

Hi Syed,

As seen on page 3 of the attached article, Fig 2 says "Each individual server hosts its own instance of BioMart retrieving data from its own local database backend. Central Portal offers a unified access point to all of these databases, distributing queries to the appropriate servers". please how can I achieve this?

Thanks,
Dami.

Sure, I understand. This functionality was available until BioMart Central Portal (BCP) was live, unfortunately BCP is not maintained anymore. Whats left on www.biomart.org is information on how to use the software. BCP used to pull together (federated access) data from many other marts at one place. You can do the same on your server as long as you know the URL of the marts you want to plug into your portal. e.g.

For Ensembl Marts hosted here:

the starting point would be to access its registry from the RESTful web service call:

You can integrate any of these listed marts in the registry into your own registry file and reconfigure your BioMart instance.

Best,
Syed
