Where XX is the number associated with the Published Name of the adobepdf.inf file.
(For example, in the screenshot above, the published name of the adobepdf.inf file is oem10.inf).

My name is Justin and i work for Desktop support for a company. Im currently having a issue with installing a PDF printer, we install Adobe Writer 9 Pro through the network using advertised programs on Win XP. Whenever i install the application it does not seem to automatically install a PDF printer on my pritner list. When i attempt to manually add it i get through all the steps sucessfully, however upon clicking finish, it then opens a directory box which wants me to point it somewhere, when i click cancel it then says something about inserting disk. Where i work discs are dissallowed, can anyone tell me where it wants me to point it or any potential workaround that i would not have to specify a path? My assumption is that it wants something from system 32 or adobe's program files but it does not specify.

I also am having problems with my PDF Printer. It worked fine for years, then a few months ago it disappeared from the printer list and now I can't print to PDF. I tried your Solution 3, Mannually Install PDF Printer, as described above but my file structure for Acrobat 6.0 doesn't look like what you described for Acrobat 10.0.

My guess is you have Reader 11.1, not Acrobat. If you have Acrobat 11.0.09 the printer should automatically be installed. Reader does not include the print driver, the latter simply being a PS printer driver. To get PDFs you also need Distiller that is part of the Acrobat release.

I have same problem in macOS Sierra (10.12.1). When install Acrobat DC, the "Adobe PDF" printer don't install on my mac preferences. I need them for make a booklet build on Indesign. (work with .ps and distyler after is very boring).

I'm having an issue installing the pdf printer driver on my computer. I tried the multiple things that are stated above and nothing has worked. It seems when I did the windows update my printer spool stooped working, so I had to uninstall and re-install all the printer drivers. I have adobe cs6 and when I go to print settings, the print to pdf driver would appear, now it does not. Any help would be much appreciated.

Joe - Did you ever get help on this? I just recently downloaded the free trial for Acrobat Adobe Reader X1 and the PDF printer did not automatically install to my printers and I can't figure out to add it. Please let me know if you figured it out

When I am in page setup manager and want to use the "Adobe PDF" plotter device, I can't set a paper size other than the standard one like letter, legal, 11x17 ect. I need to have the "Adope PDF" plotter to print a Arch D size paper but that selection dosent even show up.

I have troubleshooted all the usual supects, of going to properties next to the printer selection bringing me to the plotter configeration page, where in the device and documents tab I then proceed to the custom properties selection, where the adobe document properties page comes up and under the adobe pdf setting tab...I still cant change or find the Arch D 24x36 paper size under the adobe pdf paper size selection tab other than the standard seletions.

You would be better off with a separate plotter for large PDFs. We use CutePDF (which I found out about on this site, I'm not spamming, honest), which has the advantage of being free. You can find other options online. Anything but Adobe.

PDF usage has become standard daily, from personal use to office requirements. While we know these are easy and space-friendly in terms of downloading, transferring, maintaining, and printing. A PDF printer becomes the best choice for users when printing in the correct format. Among many others, one benefit of adding an Adobe PDF printer is that it will help users save spreadsheets or word documents in PDF. Read the entire text if you want to know how to add an adobe pdf printer in various ways.

Being an efficient and versatile printer, PDFelement gives you many options for creating, securing, and organizing your content. It can be used for Windows and Mac as well. It works as a Pdf printer and a converter for the file formats of the word, Excel, PPT, texts, and images. The only drawback is that it is not a free tool and requires subscriptions to use its features. To add a pdf printer in Windows, follow these steps.

As windows initially do not have the option of printing to PDF, users often need an additional PDF printer. WPS the office has made this task easy for its users, and with a few simple steps, you can add a pdf printer to your device. Download free WPS PDF online from the official website of WPS: the WPS PDF printer has unique features which work as a converter for word, PPT excel, text, and images to PDF and make them readily available for Print as PDF.

While WPS office makes pdf printing easy and quick, you need to install the free version, and there you go. User-friendly interface and many features available for use in the preliminary free version, users can use the many features of WPS offline and online. But to enjoy the more profound and handy features of WPS, users might need to get the premium version of WPS. Still, do not worry; this version of WPS is readily available online at relatively cheaper rates as compared to other office suites that charge a very high amount for premium usage of certain features.

We have a Windows 11 Pro user that works from home 3 days per week, and 2 days in the office. She was working from home on Thursday and Friday. There were no issues when in the office Tuesday and Wednesday where she is connected via ethernet to the domain.

We had her bring the laptop in today and confirmed the issue. The printers are simply gone. BUT if you connect to the Domain via ethernet, it will populate all the network printers from the print server and all the locally installed printers. To test the theory of it being related to the domain, I removed the ethernet and connected the WIFI to the Guest WIFI which is segmented off the domain. I tell a simple text document to print and it once again simply spins and states that notepad is not responding. I then connect the ethernet and once the network card gets an IP and connects to the network the print job immediately opens the choose your printer menu. This is replicable in all installed programs, word, excel, adobe acrobat, notepad, etc...

Since the problem was not present on Monday 5/1/2023 I tried rolling back the windows updates that were installed on 5/2/2023 but could not remove Servicing Stack 10.0.22000.1811. Problem is still present. I've tried removing the computer from the domain and adding it back. I've tried a slew of other forum suggested repairs but none are exactly like what we are dealing with. Any help is appreciated.

I am seeing the exact same issue on multiple laptops when not connected to the domain network. After logging into Windows If you go into Settings-Bluetooth & Devices-Printers & Scanners there are no printers listed. That includes the Adobe PDF printer and the Microsoft print to PDF printer. If you go into Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers you see the network printers and Adobe PDF printer but they do not respond. After approximately 30 minutes from the initial log in the local printers become available. My guess is that the Windows print spooler or something is waiting for the network printers and finally times out after 30 minutes. If you connect to the domain network via WIFI, ethernet cable or VPN the local printers become available immediately.

This should not occur since Windows will allow you to print to those network printers in many cases, with the Offline printer feature added in Windows Vista. Can you generate a process dump for spoolsv.exe using the Details tab in Task Manager? If you want to discover how to debug process dumps I can help you learn. Let me know when you have the dump and we can figure out how to get the file too me. Thanks

In my case, the problem occured when open microsoft word 365 was took to long and when set lay out page , there was getting default printer
after I check the control panel / setting all printer was missing,

Is it possible that your WiFi is segregated from the network where the printers are available? When you connect to the WiFi, is the IP address in the same range/subnet as when connected using Ethernet? I suggest that the network connection when on WiFi is simply not able to access the network where the printers are located. Do other devices work when connected to the same WiFi? If so, you may need to investigate if the laptop is connecting to the WiFi correctly and if not, consider a rebuild.

Thanks for the response. The alternate network does not matter what IP scheme or connection type is involved. I only mentioned the WIFI since it was available and uses a different subnet. But you can take the computer to Starbucks, the public licrary, or take it home and connect it to ethernet and the results are the same. ALL PRINTERS disappear if you are not attached to the domain network. This is includes software printers that save to a PDF like CutePDF, AdobePDF, or Microsoft Print to PDF.

When a Windows 11 user working from home (WFH) experiences disappearing printers while not connected to the domain, it is likely due to the printers being configured via Group Policy. These printers are typically only available when the device is connected to the corporate network. To resolve this, users can:
