Dear BioHackathon 2023 participants,

We are just two weeks away from BioHackathon 2023 (BH23).

We're writing to provide information about the Slack workspace for this year's hackathon, which can be found at biohackjp.slack.com. We've decided to continue using the same platform from BH19, now renamed as BioHackJP.

If you haven't yet joined, you're welcome to do so using the following invitation link:

https://join.slack.com/t/biohackjp/shared_invite/zt-1x0wxce3m-kYvVVQBVq~guYYRyzHBiCg

We'll be sharing various updates and announcements through this Slack workspace, so we highly recommend that you join. We're looking forward to meeting you in Japan!

Best regards,
BioHackathon 2023 Organizers

For those interested in FP and visiting Seattle. We still accept abstracts!

Dear colleagues:

With the International Conference on Functional Programming (ICFP) set to take place in Seattle this September, Matt Might (University of Alabama Birmingham), Will Byrd (University of Alabama Birmingham) and I are organizing an ICFP-affiliated workshop entitled Declarative Programming in Biology and Medicine (DeclMed), that will take place in Seattle on Sept. 9. The call for papers and list of program committee members is at the DeclMed workshop website:

https://icfp23.sigplan.org/home/declmed-2023

The workshop program committee welcomes abstract submissions from researchers who are interested in any applications of declarative programming, logic/relational programming, or FP to problems in biology or medicine, including bioinformatics workflows, DNA computing, synthetic biology, biochemical kinetic modeling, modeling living systems, biological knowledge graphs, and precision medicine. The due date for abstracts is June 30.

Also, we would be grateful if you could forward this email to folks in your research circles who might be interested in this workshop.

Thank you, and we hope to see you in Seattle!

Sincerely,
Stephen Ramsey
