The Text Mining Community of Special Interest (COSI) will host its annual session on July 13, 2026, as part of ISMB 2026 (July 12–16) in Washington, DC, returning to the location of the first ISMB.

Key details:

Advances in language technologies and generative AI are rapidly increasing our capacity to analyze the biomedical literature. But as the literature continues to expand at scale, turning these advances into robust, trustworthy systems for searching, organizing, extracting, and interpreting the literature remains critical for supporting biological discovery.

We hope you will join us in Washington, DC!

About the Text Mining COSI

The Text Mining COSI brings together researchers developing new approaches and those leveraging these methods to drive biological discovery.

We welcome submissions describing unpublished or recently published work that addresses significant biological problems through analyzing natural language or advances natural language processing in the life sciences.

Areas of interest include work which:

  • Accelerates biological discovery with text mining approaches
  • Develops or evaluates methods, models, or benchmarks for biomedical natural language processing
  • Describes iterative or automated/agentic workflows grounded in the scientific literature for biomedical question answering, literature retrieval, extraction, summarization, reasoning, or hypothesis generation

Submission & Presentation Details

  • Submissions should describe work that is unpublished or published within the last year
  • Authors may request a talktalk or poster, or poster only
  • All submissions require a 250-word abstract; talk submissions also require a 2-page extended abstract (PDF)
  • Presenters are expected to attend in person; remote participation may be requested if needed
