Hello,

In the eQTL gene expression/activity chart for various mouse strains examined on the 1428622_at platform, which sex and how many mice per strain were used to assess expression levels? I was also wondering if it was possible to access the data for individual animals, rather than just the mean of each strain?

Many thanks,

Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,

1428622_at appears to be a probeset, not the dataset, so the samples will vary depending on the dataset you are looking at.  If it's one of the default mouse datasets, you'll likely be able to find the associated publication here: http://biogps.org/downloads/ , and should be able to find more details on the mice in the methodology section of those publications.  For example for MOE430 Gene Atlas Data set, the methods section of the associated publication indicates that male mice were used except in the case of female-specific tissues/organs, and that the samples were pooled prior to RNA isolation, suggesting that there is no data for individual animals.  Again, the method (and samples) will depend on the dataset you're inspecting.

best wishes,
ginger
