I would also desperately like to have a section that functions as a collaborative notepad. The problem with using a Notes task is that it can only be edited by one person at a time. Is there any way to bring something in more along the lines of Evernote?

Now I understand it could be hard to reason about this without code but my main reason for asking this is to see if there are some general things that I haven't taken into account. I wish the source for the Windows notepad was open so I could learn more about this.

Winkey+R is probably the most used command on my computer. I can start any program from it without leaving the mouse. Great little feature. I know I can pull up the calculator, notepad and other little accessories with it faster than someone with a mouse can. But then again I also type about 100 words a minute as well.

Notepad++ will not provides you with intellisense nor code completion for any OneStream specific class. Using notepad++ for writing OneStream business rules online rather than the included code editor will be harder for sure. If your objective is to be able to write OneStream business rules offline I'd rather install visual studio community edition and add OneStream dlls as references instead

If they're actually opening the files at all, I'm assuming they're not so large as to exceed the limits of those programs (as is often the case with notepad and NGS-derived output files). Start with making sure that file extensions are viewable, and make sure that you're not actually trying to open compressed files (usually will end in .gz). You'll need to extract them to view them. If they're up to a couple hundred megabytes, you can open them with Notepad++ in windows (as already mentioned). For larger files, try LTFViewer. It's read-only, but it'll handle opening/searching multi-gigabyte text files in Windows without issue.

In a new CVAD 2203 LTSR environment notepad.exe is launching hidden along side each published application. The apps are published from Windows Server 2019. These are new builds so it isn't an upgrade problem.

It's only causing an issue when the last published app is closed. The session does not end because notepad.exe is still open in the session. If I kill notepad.exe from Director for the session everything else works as it should and the session ends.

So i run the program from cmd the program is in python 3.7.4 so i type in cmd to run the program and it says that it doesnt find options.json and i think thats because it is a notepad now and not a (white note) icon ( i guess i dont know how to convert it back to a json. If u want exacly what cmd says i can sent it.

Perhaps try posting the bug here: -in-office/windows-11-notepad/

I also have another bug:

There is a bug when trying to select some text (using a mouse) in the middle of a sentence, instead, the selection started from the end of the line, rather than only the email address I was trying to select right in the middle of the sentence. I think it was working fine before this, in terms of selection. Workaround is to use the keyboard Shift + the arrow keys to select text.

Another bug I have noticed, is when selecting text and using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C, to copy, the text is not copied into the clipboard. It works when I use the mouse to right click and copy.

Would really appreciate a fix for this. I use Notepad on a daily basis for work. Version - Notepad 11.2112.32.0

Thanks.

When clicking with mouse right button on notepad app icon to view the list of recent / pinned txt files, as I click on any one of the listed files a message is shown that says that the file is not available, as it could have been ranamed or moved or deleted, but the file exists, has exactly the same name and is placed in the correct shown path.
Windows 11, updated with win updates up to 10 jan 2023.

I stupidly clicked the button, and it appeared to switch to a new version of notepad. At least, the offer to launch the new version disappeared.
I eventually ended up in a nightmare of installing the Microsoft Store notepad (which seemed to be "new version" that was being offered).
It installed but I think it trashed my old c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe installation.

After spending several wasted hours reading up on the errors and trying to debug it, uninstalling the notepad store app, checking all my disks (they are good), reinstalling some 2013 C++ redistributables, and otherwise wasting my time, I still get the error above. My code has been working for many months until this notepad headache started.

In visual studio, this is the full error. I no longer have a side-by-side installation of notepad, to the best of my knowledge. I could not find anything in the "application event log" (was I looking in the right place?). And I don't know how to use the sxstrace.exe tool. The problem showed up when I stupidly clicked the LAUNCH button offer of the new notepad. Something in that process screwed up the "side-by-side" installation, whatever that is.

They fixed it in KB3138367 and provided a new installer that would ensure both x86 and x64 versions were installed. I installed that one, reinstalled the latest notepad app from the MS store, and the issue went away for a few hours. The link to that KB version is below.

ever since my DAX statements got more advanced, I found the code window in Power BI Desktop too small and wanted to use Notepad++ for it. Alas, there is no pre-defined syntax highlighting for DAX. So I went ahead and created my own. I share instruction on how to do that and also the already prepared XML file for easy import into Notepad++ over here: www.sascha-kasper.com/dax-syntax-highlighting-for-notepad/
