Starting off the new year in the southern hemisphere, 14 houseguests from Australia are selected to compete in the very first season of the franchise. The players enter in groups of 4 and 3, the first group being Bindi, Lachlan, Summer and Jude. Summer and Bindi introduce themselves, and Jude exclaims in the diary room about his attraction towards Summer. The next group to enter is Georgia, Beau, Cleo and River. Georgia and Cleo hit it off instantly, and River has an awkward interaction with Beau. The next 3 to enter are Jasmine, Hamish and Bonnie. Jasmine immediately enters with a larger than life personality, her and Summer add the most volume within the group; Bindi notes this in her diary room. Lachlan and Bonnie also connect. The final group to enter is Ezra, Gladys and Lukas. The three enter and don't do much interacting with the group. Once everyone has moved in, Sonia escorts the houseguests to the backyard, where Hamish comes out on top and wins the first ever HOH of the season! Lachlan and Bonnie have a conversation about their lives outside of the house, and manage to connect after both finding out that they're part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Georgia and Lukas join in on this conversation and they form an alliance. While Georgia, Bonnie and Lachlan are faithful to the group, Lukas has other plans. The day after the alliance is formed he goes up to Hamish's HOH room and leaks the whole alliance, in an attempt to save himself from going up on the block. This later proves to have worked as Hamish locks in Bonnie and Lachlan as his nominations. In his nomination speech Hamish reveals that the alliance was leaked, and Lachlan assumes Georgia was the one to spill it. The next day Lachlan barges into a conversation Georgia, Cleo and Jasmine were having about Lukas leaking the alliance in the storage room, and calls out Georgia for being a two-faced bitch and a liar. She tries to explain but her explanation falls on deaf ears, as Lachlan continues to berate her. Georgia storms out and is comforted by Cleo in the bedroom. Afterwards, the players are picked for the POV competition, those being: Beau, Lukas, and Jude. Hamish names Summer as the veto host. The veto players head outside for the BB Barnyard Search, and Beau snags the veto win. The day after, Beau vows to Hamish that he wont use the power of veto, and Bonnie has a conversation with Georgia where they rekindle the bond broken at the start of the week. At the power of veto ceremony, Beau keeps his word and discards the veto, leaving Bonnie and Lachlan on the block as the final nominees. Lachlan tries to plea, but after the blowout earlier in the week, all sides of the house come together and evict him in a 10-1 vote, with only Lukas voting in his favor, via casting a hinky vote for Bonnie.

After Lachlan's explosive exit, tensions were high in the house. This was only made worse once Lukas snagged the HOH win, ready to cause chaos. The morning after the HOH, Bonnie meets Lukas in his HOH room, where he reiterates to her that Georgia was the one who leaked the alliance. Bonnie is conflicted, and Lukas makes a confessional calling her a hysterical bitch. Later on, Hamish talks to Jude and Ezra, to pitch an alliance between them and Beau. They agree. Gladys and River connect about how they feel like they're on the outs, Gladys mentions how she feels like Lukas could put her up, but she's remaining positive. Cleo and Bindi also converse about the controversial HOH, Bindi assures Cleo that if she goes on the block, she'll keep her safe. At nominations, Cleo's worries were correct, as her and Georgia were named the nominees of the week. Lukas calls out Georgia in his nomination speech, calling her a manipulator, a snake, and accused her of targeting the queer houseguests; he also makes a controversial comment, claiming that she's not even lesbian. Georgia calls Bonnie to her aid, asking her to defend her, however Bonnie remains silent; later explaining in her confessional that she froze up. Because of this meeting, Georgia feels hurt and betrayed, she vents to Cleo in the storage room. Meanwhile, Summer is exploring the house and stumbles upon a secret room! She is given a task to put 3 different fake words into conversations. She talks to Jude, Bindi and Jasmine, and ends up being successful in her task. She opens up the party suite room and is given the power to invite 4 other houseguests to a private VIP party. She invites Jude, Bindi, Jasmine and Bonnie. Summer, Jasmine and Jude enjoy the festivities while Bindi and Bonnie talk in the corner. Bindi helps console Bonnie and gives her a wake up call about the situation with Georgia and Lukas. Bonnie vowed to make things right. At the POV pickings, Lukas draws Bonnie, Georgia draws River, and Cleo picks Jasmine with her houseguest choice chip. Gladys is chosen to be the veto host. During the veto competition, Bonnie is victorious and wins the POV necklace! After the veto, Jasmine, Cleo and Georgia gather in the Outback Bedroom, where they discuss the POV decision, Georgia states how she doubts Bonnie will use it; but Jasmine holds out hope. At the POV ceremony, Bonnie saves Georgia and calls Lukas out on his behavior. Infuriated, Lukas names Jasmine as the replacement, calling her "Georgia's other accessory". Later, Jasmine and Cleo are upstairs on the balcony, Jasmine exclaims to Cleo about how they need to teach him a lesson; so the two girls trash Lukas' room during the afternoon. Lukas soon finds his room in a mess, and a huge fight breaks out between him and the two girls. They call each other petty names until Lukas vows that he will take out the trio and Bonnie with them. The next day, the vote began. The house was pretty split on their decision, but in a close vote, it was Jasmine who was evicted by a vote of 6-4. She hugged her friends and cracked a pun before exiting the Big Brother Australia House.

The current Big Brother House that appeared in the SRBC's Stage 17 few blocks away and a specially-built backyard was added adjacent to the sound stage. The house is a two-story house and has been in use starting from the first season up to the present.

This house features the main floor Living Room, Kitchen/dinning area with a large Memory Wall for all your Houseguests pictures, large bathroom, Lounge Room, Storage Room, Dairy Room, 2 bedrooms and 1 custom Jail themed have-nots bedroom.
2nd floor has the Head of Household (HOH) private bedroom and bathroom. Outside the HOH room is the recently added Sky Bridge, a social area for chatting and playing chess.
Off the kitchen is a large secluded backyard with sitting areas, exercise equipment, pool, hot tub and Foosball table. Works great for a Big Brother Sims Challenge. No custom content. Enjoy!

During the first season, production was still very much in its experimental stage. This was reflected in the house's design. The theme was extravagant, kitsch and colorful to mimic the maximalist designs of the real Big Brother house. The lack of a concrete theme gave production more wiggle room to test out new storytelling methods.

HSBB1 used a format of 3 episodes per week: 1. The HOH competition and initial nominations, 2. The POV competition and Veto Ceremony and 3. The live vote and eviction. The exceptions to this were the first week, in which the HOH competition and initial nominations were split into 2 different episodes to allow for more time to introduce all the houseguests. Second halves of Double Evictions were also aired in a separate 4th episode, but these were still always aired immediately after the first half of the eviction.

For the first HOH competition, all the houseguests had to rank the others based on how much they'd want them to be the first HOH. Unbeknownst to them, the highest-ranked houseguest Bebe and the lowest-ranked houseguest Jo would both be the Mirage HOH. Later in the week, one of them would become the real HOH in secret and the other one would remain immune. Jo offered Bebe to use the situation to their advantage and work together, and while Bebe acted like she agreed, she secretly hated the idea of working with a social outcast. When Jo ended up giving Bebe the HOH position as a sign of trust, Bebe instead used the opportunity to nominate two well-liked players to frame Jo. When Ben and Rose were nominated, Jo's lack of social connections made her unable to prove the allegations wrong.
After Bebe convinced Leanne not to use the Veto, Ben decided to make an alliance called BB Plus to save himself, consisting of Sannah, Maurice and his idol Bebe, not knowing that she nominated him. While Ben was originally her target, his loyalty to her made Bebe realize her mistake and she flipped the vote on Rose. While Rose had her Lucky Clover alliance with Jocelyn and Ryan, she was too distraught over the nomination to successfully make a move to save herself and was evicted as an unfortunate sacrifice for Bebe's plan.

In a streak of vengeful HOH's, Sannah was next to win the power. After last vote's betrayal, Bebe realized Sannah was now an enemy rather than an ally. In an attempt to save herself, she met up with Sannah and proposed a truce in which both their sides would target floaters first to avoid the two of them from becoming the house's main targets. Sannah agreed.
Sannah then created an alliance called the One-Punch Squad with the people that voted with her a week earlier, namely Will, Travis and Maurice. On the other side, Jocelyn and Ryan offered Bebe and Ben to team up and they became the Blondies alliance. These two 4-man alliances became the main foundation of the anti-floater truce.
Keeping her word, Sannah nominated Chris and Fabio, as they were two overconfident floaters that had grown very close during their time in the house. After Chris managed to save himself by winning the POV, Sannah nominated Ben to make sure Bebe wouldn't flip on her. Fabio, meanwhile, was struggling to gain votes due to his odd personality and ridiculous campaigns. When Chris realized Fabio was a lost cause, he jumped ship and left Fabio to drown, who was then evicted unanimously.
