ARE YOU INTERESTED IN DEVELOPING A SCIENTIFIC CAREER IN THE AGING
FIELD?

We are looking for 1 or 2 highly motivated researchers to work on or
mitochondria and aging. Applicants should hold a M.Sc. (or
equivalent) degree in a Biological or Biomedical science discipline.
We are looking for ambitious students who enjoy working within a team.
Applicants should be eager to learn, be able to multitask and
interested in personal development with a view to a career in academic
research. Although not essential, previous experience in a laboratory
setting would be advantageous.

In our group we are interested in understanding the mechanisms which
underly the aging process. To do this we use the genetically tractable
model, Drosophila melanogaster coupled a multi -disciplinary approach
based on Genetics, Biochemistry and Physiology. Our aim is to
determine which factor(s) modulate lifespan in the fruit fly in order
to find ways were we may be able to delay human aging and extend
healthy lifespan.

We are a group of young researchers funded by the European Research
Council, Finnish Academy and Tampere University Hospital with a good
record of publications (Cell Metabolism, PNAS, FASEB J). If you are
interested in joining us and developing a successful scientific
career, please send a cover letter with your professional interests, a
Curriculum Vitae (including your qualifications) and the name and
contact details of at least two academic referees to:
albert...@uta.fi. Applications are welcomed until the position(s)
are filled, a starting date is negotiable.
