Our group is interesting in the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in
life-span regulation and pathophysioloy in neurodegenerative diseases,
metabolic disorders and in the aging process. We are generating mouse
models with systemic or tissue-specific mitochondrial dysfunction and,
along with already existing murine lines, will study to molecular and
cellular effect of the mitochondrial dysfunction.

We are a young, dynamic group which is integrated in an excellent,
collaborative and international scientific environment at the
University of Cologne (Center of Molecular Medicine, Excellence
Cluster for Aging research - CECAD). To complement our team, we are
looking for a highly motivated and qualified

Postdoctoral fellow
(Ph.D. in biochemistry or biology)

with an interest in molecular basis and defects in cellular metabolism
and development of novel therapeutic approach. Successful
applicants should have a technical and conceptual background in the
analysis of mitochondrial function as well as a solid background
in cellular and molecular biology and/or biochemistry.
The ability to work independently is essential.
Expertise in mouse genetics and cell culture is desirable, but not
necessary. Funding through the Emmy-Noether-Program of the
German Research Society is initially available for 3 years.

The University of Cologne is an equal opportunity employer
in compliance with the German disability laws.
Women and persons with disabilities are therefore strongly
encouraged to apply.

Please send your application (cover letter with research interests,
CV, brief statement of research skills and experience, publication
list, contact details for two references) to Dr. Tina Wenz
at the Institute for Genetics, University of Cologne,
Zülpicher Str. 47a, 50674 Köln. E-mail:
tina...@uni-koeln.de

Deadline for applications is May 15th 2010.
