Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral Research
Assistant in the research group of Professor Andrew Halestrap to
investigate mitochondrial function in the normal and
ischaemic/reperfused heart. The major focus will be on the mechanisms by
which ischemia induces cytochrome c release, a critical factor
mediating the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that induces
injury during reperfusion, and the mechanisms by which ischaemic
preconditioning prevents this. Previous experience of perfusing
isolated rat hearts is essential. The successful candidate will join a
vibrant and well-equipped laboratory which forms part of the Bristol
Heart Institute. The 15 month position is funded by The British Heart
Foundation at a salary of £31,020 - £31,948pa and is available
immediately. Further information can be found at http://www.bris.ac.uk/boris/jobs/feeds/ads?ID=115951
