"For these Tempers, with all their lesser Subdivisions, are the Atmosphere that sets Bounds to the Breath of the earthly Life; they are essential to it, and as inseparable from it, as Hardness and Darkness [opacity] are inseparable from a Rock of Stone. So long as the stony Rock lasts, so long is it hard and dark." - William Law
You can now see how the 500 horn manure brings darkness (opacity) but not any substantial hardness. And how the 501 horn silica brings light (transparency) and hardness. When you spray 500 you are telling the soil to become more opaque ("darker") but softer than its hard dead parent material. When you spray 501 horn silica on plants, you are telling the plants to become more transparent ("lighter") yet also to harden into proper form. You can understand how Alex Podolinsky indicates how little 501 is needed in Australia 🦘. Australia is predominantly silica already but in particular it tends to be quite dry and full of light, so plants need far less of that gesture. The more overcast your skies or the more humidity in the air, the more 501 you will likely need. The large amount of rainfall in most of the eastern and south eastern USA all demand more 501, but this is not as true in the air regions of the southwest where much of the plant growth is quite "hard" (and prickly) already.
