To: Jack Sparks <Jack_...@fws.gov>

The Valley is full of birds of all colors, shapes, and sizes, especially during the winter and spring.  Do you ever wonder, “What bird is that?”  Visit the Complex and participate in a guided birding nature walk and learn how to identify all those birds!  Nature walks/tours will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last approximately two hours at the locations and dates listed.  There is no registration/sign-up required for these activities, but if you have questions, please call the San Luis NWR Complex visitor center at 209/826-3508.  Information and driving directions can be found on the refuge complex websites, listed by each date.

Dates and locations are as follows (all are on Saturdays):

March 19 at 8:30 a.m. – San Luis NWR, meet at the Visitor Center, 7376 S. Wolfsen Rd., Los Banos, 93635.  Website:  www.fws.gov/refuge/san_luis

April 23 at 8:30 a.m. – San Joaquin River NWR, meet at the Pelican Nature Trail parking lot, 2714 Dairy Rd., Vernalis, 95385.  Website:  www.fws.gov/refuge/san_joaquin_river

May 21 at 8:30 a.m. – San Luis NWR, meet at the Visitor Center, 7376 S. Wolfsen Rd., Los Banos, 93635.  Website:  www.fws.gov/refuge/san_luis

Bring binoculars, spotting scopes, and field guides.  Don’t forget hats, sunscreen, insect repellent, and water.  Remember to dress for changeable late winter/early spring weather.

We hope to see you there!
