Hey everybody!
Need some conference experience? Not the high-pressure presentation kind, but the behind-the-scenes kind of experience? Look no further! The 5th World Lagomorph Conference at CSU Stanislaus is open for volunteers!
What's a Lagomoprh you ask? Why it's a cute, fuzzy member of order Lagomorpha, order of rabbits and pika! This conference will be a gathering of scientists dedicated to studying these cute critters from all over the world!
Interested? There's two types of volunteer opportunities available and plenty of space (7 shifts with 3 students each):
Registration area:
Outside of Naraghi 101 is going to have to be manned at all times as an information resource (2 volunteers/time slot) and selling t-shirts. However, since there will likely be a lot of down time, especially after the first morning, volunteers will be able to take turns to sit in on some talks or check out the poster display. We can be somewhat flexible, but volunteers need to be close by and available during their shifts. For example, they should be reachable by text message to get back to the registration desk.
IT:
A volunteer in N101 (and later in S135) each shift to help with IT issues (keeping an eye on lighting, projection, loading PowerPoints, etc.). It is important that that volunteer be not only good IT and computer skills, but have really good people skills. She/he will be dealing with conference organizers, session chairs, and conference attendees from two dozen different countries, and some of them will have less than perfect command of the English language.
Benefits:
If you are a WLC5 volunteer, you will get a t-shirt and a badge, so you can sit in on any talk as long as there is room, even if you are not working that time slot. You will also be provided breakfast/lunch for your shift.
Still interested? Fill in the attached excel sheet with your contact info and desired shift(s) then send it to me so I can see about getting some SJSU students on the roster :)
