Dear all,

We are pleased to announce "BioDCASE" - the Bioacoustics Data Challenge!
https://biodcase.github.io/

BioDCASE will be a satellite event of the DCASE challenge and workshop
2025 <https://dcase.community/>
We developed this initiative to help address the needs of people who
monitor animal sounds, while also solving some fascinating computational
problems!

The BioDCASE challenge will be in spring/summer. There will also be a
one-day workshop on 29th Oct 2025 as part of DCASE.

We encourage YOU to take part! Three different tasks have been designed
- decide which one you'd like to help solve. The newly-assembled audio
datasets will be released in April, giving you time to work with the
data before the challenge deadline of 15th June.

The BioDCASE 2025 challenge tasks are:
1. Multi-channel alignment
2. Supervised detection of strongly-labelled Antarctic blue and fin
whale calls
3. Bioacoustics for tiny hardware

Please forward this announcement to anyone who might be interested.
Students, data scientists, colleagues.

And please sign up to the BioDCASE forum (mailing list) if you would
like to stay up-to-date.

Best wishes
Dan Stowell and the BioDCASE organising committee
