Announcing the BioDCASE 2026 challenge - with 6 bioacoustic tasks

Dear all,

We are pleased to announce the BioDCASE challenge for 2026 - the
Bioacoustics Data Challenge!

We are launching SIX tasks - each one designed by a dedicated team to
represent a task that the bioacoustics community wants to solve.
Newly-assembled open audio data will be released in April, giving you
time to work with the data before the challenge deadline of 15th June.

The BioDCASE 2026 tasks are:
1. Multi-channel alignment
2. Supervised detection of strongly-labelled Antarctic blue and fin
whale calls
3. Bioacoustics for tiny hardware
4. Active Learning for Bioacoustics
5. Cross-Domain Mosquito Species Classification
6. Bird Counting
