Dear Members of the Biocurious community,
We are trying to understand the specific educational benefits of community labs like Biocurious. While numerous studies have been conducted on DIY (Do-It-Yourself)-Bio, most have focused on individual people and projects. As participants in the movement, we know that most DIY-Bio takes place at community labs.
Yet, the role and importance of community life sciences labs has been neglected, especially when compared to tech-focused makerspaces. It is very important that we have good information on the role of community labs so that we can make the case for their importance to the community and to funders (we hope you saw the recent piece in the New Yorker that cast community labs in a positive light!)
We are asking you to support this effort by taking a short survey which should take about 15 minutes to complete. We are hoping to hear from a wide range of current and past users, from those that are very active at community labs to those who may only have attended 1-2 classes or events, so your specific participation is valued. We greatly appreciate your taking the time to help with this important research project.
Thank you, and please let us know if you have any questions,
