ASM Journals

Are you a Ph.D. candidate, postdoctoral or lab-based researcher eager to share your work with the microbiology community? Or do you know a rising star in your lab who deserves recognition?

Emerging Voices in Microbiology offers a unique opportunity to highlight promising early-career researchers and their contributions to the field through a dedicated minireview collection in Infection and Immunity (IAI).

Nominations and self-nominations for potential authors are now being accepted.

Nominate by Oct. 20

This collection complements IAI’s annual New Voices in Microbiology series by focusing on researchers who are one step earlier in their career journeys—further strengthening ASM’s commitment to fostering the next generation of microbiologists.

Please note: To be considered, nominees should demonstrate documented expertise in their area of focus, for example through a first-author publication or preprint relevant to the proposed minireview topic. Nomination materials will include both the trainee’s CV and the advisor’s CV.

Nominees may self-nominate or be nominated by their advisors; accepted minireviews will be co-written with the advisor to ensure mentorship and rigor. Submissions will undergo standard peer review, and accepted articles will be published in a collection in 2027.

Deadline to Nominate: October 20, 2026
