Hola Amigo,

Ro here...just joined. I'm finally coming out of the dark after
getting pounded the several months ..I feel like a seedling pushing
out of the soil...see the light....

RBUFW update .. I have not gone back since before Jan, but, I have
been in the email loop. A lot has happened since the beginning of the
year, everything we have been waiting for for the last few years is
happening! Tomorrow we begin the pre community design review process.
The first official one is in June. Right now we are looking at 10
request for proposals from Seattle teams of landscape architects and
wetland specialists. We will be deciding on 3 out of the 10 to put to
the community in the 3 community design review meetings that will take
place this summer. We then will decide on who gets the bid and begin
to break ground next Spring. Along with Seattle Tilth, Friends of
Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands has been the interim partners in
the operation of the farm. This interim agreement has been a lengthily
road to travel and we have had to deal with each other along with the
Seattle Parks Dept, since they own the land. Working and cooperating
between three separate groups along with the City of Seattle has been
no small feat!

Biochar is on the table as part of what everyone wants for this huge
project - it's written into the legal agreement as part of the
required farm enhancements (I made sure of that, yay) Because we are
still in an interim period this is the perfect time to do the ground
work. Since I am out of school now and my dream of entering law school
has been put off till next year, I have time to dedicate that I didn't
have before now. I'm sorry it seems to have taken so long. What I know
now is that it couldn't have happened any sooner.
