Hey Friends

I just wanted to send a quick email to encourage everyone who is registered to vote in Binghamton to get out the polls today and vote for Tarik Abdelazim for Broome County Executive. Perhaps you have seen his signs about town? He was Mayor Ryan's deputy in the past. He is a strong progressive. Some of you may even know him as he frequented underground rock shows peopled by the university crowd in the past. If elected he will be a serious obstacle to hyrdo-fraking in this area. I know we all such righteous radicals and voting is something old people, Tea Partiers and liberals do but, if you think residents of Broome County deserve clean drinking water, please get out to vote today. Tarik is so badass that he is running as a non-party, write-in candidate. I've attached a mailing that shows how to make a write-in vote. So please do try to find the few minutes in your day your to vote. Thanks

Brendan

Well said Brendan.
Today was the primary elections, which decides who the name would be
on the box for the respective party nomination in November.

Tarik was smart to go after the Independence Party line in addition to
being on the Democratic Party line -- in which he is uncontested. The
Republican is Debbie Preston who, had Tarik not contested it, would
have been the only candidate for Independence Party is also the only
candidate on the Republican line. So today was a vote over who will
control the Independence Party endorsement.

Because Tarik Abdelazimwas the ""write-in" candidate, and people have
to spell his full name absolutely correctly (facepalm), no one will be
sure how it turned out for about a week. But, I wish to make this
clear Tarik is still running in the November election for Executive
of Broome County as Democratic candidate against the Republican
Debbie Preston. I could explain this further if you're interested --
send a shout out.

I too realize -- thanks for saying this Brendan -- that voting
politics gives some folks a rash -- but hey, this aint about bullshit
national or state elections. This is a crucial local race that will
decide who will make local legislative decisions. And if you dont know
about fracking please, check into it. I have liked about 70
antifracking groups on fb -- it's a movement gaining huge momentum.

Thanks for your time and thought. Hope to see all yall soon. Feel free
to ask me questions if you have some.
Carol
