Hid Keyboard Device Driver Windows 11

neitherof my shift keys on my keyboard are working and i think it has something to do with the software on my laptop. i have come across multiple apps that required a payment or subscription so they can update my drivers. is there a way i can manually update them for free without any apps. pls help

Upon imaging a Surface Laptop 2 with our basic image from the older Surface laptop model the Surface Hid Mini Driver driver fails to power and thus the keyboard doesn't work. if I revert back to 03/27/2017 driver it works fine... but then the laptop automatically updates itself to the latest version that brakes again. I have blocked the update in WSUS.

Is anybody aware of a fix for the latest driver? Does the PC somehow think its a Surface Laptop 1st gen and somehow downloading the incorrect driver possibly? I also downloaded the latest firmware/driver package from MS and tried that version and it also doesn't work. Seems to be the same exact version that gets downloaded from Windows Update.

@WC_KStil did you ever get the specific version of the driver that works? I keep running into this issue every update cycle. I have a surface laptop 2 and the "Surface Hid Mini Driver" flakes out every update. I've tried the all of the drivers from Download Surface Laptop 2 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center :

I've tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing but that never seems to work, even disabling the driver and re-enabling doesn't work. I'm not sure what happens in UEFI entry, but that seems to make it work again for me. Beware - your mileage may vary!!! This seems to be a very common issue but different tasks seem to work for different people. I sure hope Microsoft can fix this as it is a pain as it usually happens when I really need to get some work done!

Sign in and select Surface Laptop 2 and input your Surface's serial number. Click on Download and Save it to your desktop. Do not download the Recovery Image directly on the USB drive but on the Downloads folder on the computer.

details: I plugged a new USB MOUSE (EasySMX), everything worked well in the beggining (without any need to install a driver). However, i've additionally installed "recommended driver" software for that mouse, but after that mouse started to misbehave (specifically, lags 1 seconds once in 10 seconds). Have tried all uninstall methods (control panel, device manager, restarting pc, etc..), but still problem with that mouse. I want to uninstall everything related to that.

Looks like the checkbox I was talking about (screenshot) doesn't show for all devices. I don't know why this happens, but it could be because the driver you are trying to delete is a standard driver embbedded in Windows. Anyway, here is a possible alternative you could try to delete the driver:

About DPI and refresh rate: you can't change them through Windows' Control Panel. You must do it through the software controller that came with your mouse (if it has one) or through it's hardware interface (by clicking the mouse buttons, as you said).

I suspected of DPI and refresh rate because I already saw this kind of problem being caused by them! Sometimes a specific DPI or (specially) a different refresh rate causes this kind of trouble! And this could explain why rolling back the driver didn't solve your issue.

So it's a pretty commonly known issue that the function keys on the Apple Wireless keyboard don't do a thing in Windows. Is there some way. I'm using Windows 8.1 on an Windows PC, not a Mac, so I don't have access to the Boot Camp drivers. Is there some workaround? I'd really really like them to behave completely normally and use the Windows GUI for volume selection and music controls.

It seems pretty sub par that I've payed for a keyboard that really should work fine on Windows but that is missing basic functionality. I don't know if the problem is being caused on Microsoft's or Apple's end, though I suspect either could fix it easily and make the keyboard work with full functionality on connection without any hassle.

I found an install link to the Apple Wireless Keyboard drivers that I believe come with bootcamp and did that but the drivers are now just sitting in Device Manager not doing anything. To be more specific, in Device Manager, under Bluetooth there is 'Apple Wireless Keyboard' but under Keyboards is 'HID Keyboard Device' which is the default driver Windows appears to be using.

Maybe you guys can help me, I don't have an issue with some functions not working, I just bought a magic keyboard for its essential keys, and portability. That being said I can't get it to respond to my windows 10, dell PC. It gets discovered by the usb bluetooth that I added, but once it asks me to type the pin, The keyboard does not respond at all... I can press any key and it won't respond.

I tried installing bootcamp drivers, which I THINK installed properly, but the keyboard just dosen't want to work with the PC. I also have another PC which I tried to process on and it didn't work. It works fine for my ipad and macbook though. Can anyone help solve this.

Come on Apple, man up and write some decent Windows Only (no Boot Camp) drivers for your USB and Wireless Keyboards. Since Apple chooses the hardware for all Macs, it's simply not possible for me to use a Mac for everything I need to do. It's just silly that the keyboard I use with Windows is missing functionality due to Apple's "Mac Only" myopia. Would you rather I use a Microsoft Keyboard? I'm about to make the switch.

Yes..I know. There are still people buying Apple devices for use with Windows and I want Google searches to find this page. Apple doesn't support these devices outside of Boot Camp. And after using Boot Camp for years, I can tell you they don't work too well in Boot Camp either. Apple's crappy drivers were designed to paint Windows in the palest light possible. It was a cheap charlatan's trick.

Apple sure has changed recently. I remember a time when Mac Pro's had tons of expansion capabilities and Mac Book Pros had great graphics. iPhones were small and elegant, not the of Android shape of today - an overused bar of soap. I remember a time when iPad was the future of computing...not a the quickly stagnant coffee table computer with shrinking sales - the Netbook of this decade. My Apple keyboard is the last Apple product I'm still using...my fingers still like it despite the failings. But it too is starting to wear on me. Why can't Apple get even this right? A simple keyboard? It's depressing.

I attempted to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2017. The install process failed and the Kaspersky install app claimed to back out changes it had made up to that point. However, my keyboard and touchpad no longer worked. Looking on the HP website, I found instructions for restoring the keyboard drivers. I went to Device Manager, Viewed hidden devices, expanded Keyboards, uninstalled each driver listed under Keyboards, then Restarted my laptop. The keyboard still did not work so i went back into Device Manager to look at the drivers under Keyboards again. This time two have yellow triangle indicators with an "!" - HID Keyboard Device and Standard PS/2 Keyboard. When I right-click on each of thes and view the properties, I see the messages:

So far I tried to install the keyboard drivers but the install failed. I am now in the process of backing up my data to an external drive and locating the sources for addition software that I use. Once I complete that and can be sure I won't need access to any files or my browser for a couple days, I will follow the instructions you provided to restore my system.

Thank you so much for providing such clear instructions. I am just sorry that the keyboard driver install didn't work, but I am very hopeful that I will be able to restore my system by following the instructions you gave me. I will give you an update on my progress in a few days.

Evidently they have a known issue but were reluctant to share the fix when I first reported my issue. I don't expect their instructions to help at this point but I will try out of curiosity and hoping still to avoid having to reload all software which was not part of my original system. Having said that, I do expect, and am fully confident that your instructions on restoring my system to its original state will work and therefore I have a strong "safety net" when these latest instructions fail.

Unfortunately just loading the keyboard and mouse drivers did not work. Kaspersky acknowledged that they have a problem for which they do not have a good solution. Their tech support tried working with me to create a rescue disk and boot from that in order to repair the problems their software had caused on my laptop. The end result was that I not only couldn't use my keyboard nd mouse but I lost all network and internet access!

I finally bit the bullet and followed the instructions you sent to restore my system to its original state - worked like a champ and didn't take near as long as I had imagined. Then I quickly reloaded my other software and I am mow "back in business". Thank you so much for the help and the detailed steps!

It all started while trying to install driver 21.2.2. The driver installation always prematurely ended with "Something went wrong." After countless DDU + reinstalls, I had to give up, reset Windows, check through all my hardware and try another install. I managed to install the driver properly and even went on to update to 21.3.1.

The problem is, midway through the installation, I can see that a Windows notification pops up about AMD USB LED drivers having been installed. This is something I still don't get. Is this even intended? If it's for the reference design's LED, don't we already have a Cooler Master software for that? Seriously, I am confused as hell about this. And surely this driver is confusing the living daylight out of Windows 10 as well.
