Everything worked well for months. Suddenly, when we put Netflix on, no sound. There IS sound for a Netflix trailer, but not for an actual show. All other apps (Disney +, CW, Amazon Prime) are working fine. In another room, with another Roku, Netflix is working fine. What happened, and what needs to be done?
My son was able to fix it. I believe he went into Roku settings and then audio. And change the setting to stereo. Rather than the other one that was selected. And the hdmi setting was at auto. Restarted netflix and it was back to normal. Not sure why it started (never changed the setting to begin with) but it's worked fine since. Hope this helps!
Can you please provide more information about the issue you are experiencing? Is the issue you are experiencing only happen on the Netflix channel or does the loss of audio happen on all channels? What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far to try to resolve the issue? How long has the issue been occurring?
As a first step, could you try to remove any channel you observe this issue on from the Roku home screen? Then, restart your device. Once it loads up again, add the channel back once more and try playing content again.
The Netflix movies that you stream are NOT in high def. Although I knew this going in, I expected them to all be at least widescreen (with the exception of titles that were never widescreen). I was shocked that the first couple of titles I tried were NOT playing in widescreen. As a matter of fact they even looked a little squished. It was like they were widescreen titles that were being forced into a 4:3 format.
This player connects to your network via Ethernet. So you will need either an ethernet drop near your TV or an Ethernet to Wi-Fi bridge (which I have not tested). It would be great if these Blu-ray players either came with Wi-Fi built-in or at least offered a low cost external option like the one available for TiVo HD.
Thanks, Terry. The world has passed me by, but I think I got it. He can load the disk on his Mac and plug the AirPort into the wall near his BD300. Then he would run an Ethernet cable from the AirPort to the BD300 and would be able to stream Netflix movies directly to his TV. Sounds like a better deal for us rather than just waiting for the movies to arrive in the mail. Again, thanks so much.
I am having the same issue with the LG BD300. this player will not connect to the internet no matter what i do. Just purchased it a few days ago; it will be going back to Best Buy tomorrow. Forget about calling LG for tech support, they are ABSOLUTELY clueless. They act like they never even heard of the connection problems that people are having.
I to having same grief as listed above. Is it because it is a DSL connection to web vs. cable modem? Bought from Beach camera and most likely will send ir bacck to them. i heard that samsung makes similiar box will check into and post with results.
I wish I had read this before I purchased my LG, I had the same problem and returned it to BestBuy, I tried to call support and it was useless, I returned it and will try setting up the new LG player, I wish LG had some help with this,
I got my LG set up and connected right away.
however, some discs that i put in the player come thru to my plasma screen (pioneer)as half the screen size in the center and everything is all in a shade of green.LG support has no clue . has anybody had this problem?
Ok everyone I figured it out.
You need to go to your connection settings on the blue ray player and change the IP MODE to a static ip. Once you do that move down to the IP Setting and press enter.
A screen should come up that asks you to enter:
IP Address
Subnet Mask
Gateway
DNS Server
We spent hours chatting online with Comcast, our ISP trying to figure out what needed to be done to get internet access located next to our BD300. Had two technicians come out with an electrician in between. Have also taken several trips to Best Buy.
(2) Change the DNS addresses that your router uses, and set up your player for dynamic IP and DNS. Your player (and probably everything else on your network) should automatically start using the new addresses the next time you turn them on.
I can stream Netflix just fine when I play it using my Chrome browser. But, when I try to play Netflix using Safari (version 10.0), I get one or two frames of video, and then a black screen. I still have all of the controls and slider and I still get sound, but the video is just a black screen.
I just now tried it again using Safari, and got code S7363-1260-48444350 when trying to play a video. The code referred to an incompatible monitor. I tried again, and got the same issue as before, where I get a few frames of the video, and then the video goes black, but I can hear the audio and I still have control of the playback (e.g., play/pause, volume, etc.).
When I unplugged my external monitors and used only the laptop screen, the video played. So, I now know that the problem has something to do with my external monitors being connected to my laptop, even if I'm trying to play the video on my laptop screen.
Simple solution (os High Sierra) but Netflix have so far ignored my message! Forget all their solutions particularly concerning Silver Light, as that is no longer needed. This only began for me with Safari 11.0.1. I was able to connect using FireFox without issue so it had to be Safari settings.
Thanks, but I've already done an Internet search to find a solution to my problem. I've re-installed the latest version of Silverlight, and that hasn't helped. Also, Chrome works just fine with Netflix, which I think also uses Silverlight. I've also tried restarting the computer and the other typical non-specific solutions.
- I do get the display error thing (thunderbolt > VGA displays attached). Checked with develop tab if netflix works in safari 10 (don't see another version of safari in the list). However, if I select 'firefox: mac' and allow the silverlight plugin (that I just installed) then it works.
If the issue is the HTML5 player (since in older safari versions with silverlight, it does work), how do I force Netflix to use silverlight? It seems it always reverts back to HTML5, even if silverlight's installed.
However, after some exploring I found there were some additional setting in the tv's advanced sound settings that had not activated, ... I changed them to dolby digital plus and pass through and it seems to have worked!
Thanks Ben. I think the setting I found for PCM that I set to auto has done the trick. I am now seeing Dolby for Netflix 5.1 movies. Still saw Stereo PCM for Dolby Atmos demos on YouTube but they may be my slow internet connection
This is brilliant thank you, I have the same tv and soundbar and couldn't figure out why it was only pcm 2.0. It was driving me mad.. changed my audio settings to pass through in the LG and left the digital plus option to auto and its working perfectly. Thank you!
I'm pretty sure that only matters for the internal speakers.. Once the audio is set to pass through.. the TV let's the sound bar do all the work and allows the app to speak directly with with soundbar.. im no expert but that's what I took from it.. mine is greyed out but set to on.. if it was bothering you, you could try change the audio output to TV internal speaker, turn it on.. then change the audio back to e-arc and it should grey out but be set to on.. but I don't think it matters, the sonos system tells you what signal its outputting and if you go to the sonos app and click settings, then system, then about my system and scroll down you should see what audio format each speaker is receiving... again I'm no expert but that's what I picked up googling stuff and this forum.
To check for sure.. search 'atmos' on netflix. It will give you all the dolby atmos titles.. pick one, let it play and go check your sonos app. As long as you see it in both places in the app then you're fine. Here's what I see when I watch 'our planet' on netflix in dolby vision-atmos.
When apple tv 4k is blocked in pcm stereo, i just "turn off" normally the apple tv. I wait 30 seconds to be sure apple tv, tv and sonos are in stand by mode. After this i turn on apple tv with official remote and now it's works !!!
when browsing Netflix shows on the X1 DVR --It starts playing the next episode -- even whne just trying to re description when still on screen that shows options For "episode 1" or "More Episodes" etc... Whay does the X1 box not recognize the Netflix settings to NOT AUTOPLAY ?
