Question .... Sheriff: "" 'With nudists and swinging ... comes
prostitution. Is nudism a kind of gateway drug to prostitution? ""


During a candidate forum this week in Dade City, Sheriff Bob White
drew a direct link between the two ways of life.


One of White's challengers, the Sheriff's Office former vice
commander, was asked about his responsibility for the proliferation of
adult entertainment in west Pasco County, and the crime that
accompanies it.


Robert Sullivan answered: absolutely.


"I do share responsibility for that. As the vice commander, I share
responsibility for every prostitute that’s walking on the streets of
Pasco County," Sullivan said.


White answered next. He picked up on the prostitution theme -- and
elaborated.


"I think we have the most nudist colonies in this county of any
county, I think, in the country,” the sheriff said. "With nudists and
swinging and that sort of thing … comes prostitution, and we have a
number of adult entertainment (businesses)."
The sheriff is correct that Pasco has a high per-capita nudist resort
count -- most in Florida -- and their revenues are the county's
second- biggest tourism earner.


Controversies boil up every year or so. Most recently, Caliente Resort
& Spa in Land O'Lakes temporarily lost its membership in a national
nudism group because of its advertised swinger parties. Homeowners
there try to emphasize nudism as natural and nonsexual, not
nymphomaniacal and deviant.


But prostitution? That's a whole new charge.

Thanks Caliente ... thanks Angye Fox. Thanks AANR for not taking care
of business right WHEN it is layed at your front door. I think that we
can also thank 'Natura' for its high profile nude kiddy retreat =
Christianity scheme too. They have all helped roll the clock back and
re-fortify a public perception that naturists are all whores around
here.


AANR has the duty now to get back here and straighten that incorrect
perception back out. Didn't Erich say that AANR people have been at
the forefront in clearly showing the distinction between Sex and
naturism and between adult entertainment and naturist facilities ??
Yes, yes he did.


Well Erick and the spin doctors have not done a very good job it
seems. Is it time AANR stops patting themselves on the back for the
wonders they claim to have accomplished, when they have not
accomplished any here.


Might be a good time for AANR to re-think the swinger that allegedly
occupies their Secretary-Treasurer post. What with the Caliente
debackle, and an alleged swinger on their own executive they show
about as much Family naturist credibility to the public as the red
light districts Madam Boom Booms LaRue has as a minister.


Lots of work to do here Panda ... Family naturism V. Naturism = SEX.


Like I said, or tried to say 10 months ago ... the Naturism = SEX
people are going to be raining a publicity hell on the family
naturists, and it has started. Who is the public going to believe ...
the Sheriff's vice squad or Caliente's "Brand" headed by Angye Fox and
AANR ??

If the candidates for sheriff believe that prostitution is the likely
byproduct of nudist clubs, it sounds as if we have a lot of education
to do, locally. I agree that AANR can and should help in that process,
but I'm not sure they know of this specific need. However, as many
evils as you attribute to the now defunct Natura, I don't believe
anyone connected with them had anything to do with this recent
problem. It's kind of like beating a dead horse at this point. I think
the news reports regarding Caliente's recent affairs (pardon the pun)
have done the most damage to our hard fought, clean family image.

In regard to Tina Barnott, I have heard this charge before, but never
having met her, I really don't know the background or basis of the
charge. On what do you base these claims?

The incumbant Pasco County Sheriff, Bob White, who made the allegation
about Naturism being the gateway to prostitution won his Republican
primary last night, August 25.

The AANR and most naturists in the County are very aware of the
comments made by the Sheriff hopefuls that the allegation is correct.
There was an article in the publicly available Pasco Naturally
newspaper as well as the Tampa/St. Petersberg newspapers.

Bill Martins 'Natura' scheme has brought a large amount of adverse
publicity to the area respecting naturism. 'Natura' is still listed on
AANR's role of traveling clubs. Martin filed yet another litigation
against Karl Thomas recently that was quashed by the Court. By Martin
conducting himself in the manner that is his hallmark, highly
questionable and inflamitory information dissemination, non-stop high
profile litigations and refusal to either understand or accept the
five years of 'Natura's' combative and Court room drama that has for
all practical purposes failed, Natura is still seen as operative.

The information about Ms. Barnot is passed by people who know her. I
personally do not care what her social life entails, but do feel that
if the AANR and FAANR are to continue advocating they stand for the
position of "Family Naturism", a swinger ought not be on the
executive. By accepting this executive position Ms. Barnot has
voluntarily placed herself and AANR in a position of scrutiny. Her
platform did not reveal her personal preference to the electorate. The
result may not have been so good for Family Naturism. The allegation
has not been denied to my knowledge.
