Business Opportunity Leads Tips - Using Safelists

Continuing with my ongoing series about free online lead generation techniques, today we will discuss safelists.

A safelist is somewhat like a traffic exchange. You sign up and agree to read the emails sent by other members of the safelist. By doing so, you build up credits to send your own promotional emails to the members of the list. This is another way to get your message out.

Marketing with safelists can be a total waste of time if you do not do it correctly. And you must be prepared to set aside some time each day to wade through the hundreds of emails you will receive.

Before you start using safelist marketing, here are 3 tips to help you get started correctly:

1. Set up a separate email account with Gmail only for your safelists. Use that email account to receive messages from other marketers. Gmail is the best option here, as it does not do anything with spam other than send it to your spam folder. Most of the messages coming from the safelists will most likely get flagged as spam. Other services such as Hotmail and Yahoo filter spam and do not deliver it all.

2. Spend time reading emails. Join credit-based safelists that reward you for opening your mail. Read the messages to earn credits and in turn create opportunities for your email to be read. The more credits you collect, the more messages you can send.

Much like traffic exchanges, and other forms of internet marketing, marketing with safelists is a numbers game. With credit based safelists, even an average ad with an average title will get seen because your audience is trying to create credits.

This is good for you as long as you have plenty of credits built up. With most safelists, you can buy credits, or you can spend your time and earn them reading emails if you are working with a credit based stateliest.

Pay attention to the emails that you read, and make note of any ideas they generate for good titles and content.

3. People marketing on safelists are looking for traffic. So why not market other traffic generation products to them? Direct them to a lead capture page so you get their email, and then follow up with information about other traffic generation products, such as other safelists that you are using, or traffic exchanges you are using, and so on. By taking this approach you begin to establish a business relationship with these leads and you build a list for future marketing efforts.

Using this approach will enable you to get the most out of your safelist marketing efforts.
