PapaJohns opened its first pizza place in Medelln on September 22, 2015 on the ground floor of the La Strada building in El Poblado. And since opening their first location, they have grown to a total of seven locations in Medelln including three that opened so far in 2018.

Papa Johns started out in Colombia in Bogot several years ago. And they have grown to have now over 35 locations in Colombia, including 20 locations in Bogot, 7 in Medelln, 4 in Cali, 2 in Barranquilla, 1 in Cha, 1 in Cajic and 1 in Vilavicencio.

In 2016, Papa Johns signed a restaurant development agreement with Grupo Nutresa in Colombia with plans to open 28 more locations in Colombia over a period of eight years. Grupo Nutresa is a large food processing conglomerate headquartered in Medelln.

In Latin America this pizza chain has restaurants in 17 countries: Bahamas, Bolivia, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republics, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela. The company sees Latin America as a growth market.

Papa Johns is a big chain pizzeria. So, almost all items on the menu are pizzas. In addition, Papa Johns has four pizza sizes: personal with 4 pieces, median with 8 slices, family with 10 slices and mega-family with 12 slices.

The pizzas at Papa Johns have two crust options, thin and a traditional crust, which is a thicker crust. But the thin is available only for a few pizza types. And it has three families of pizzas with different prices:

In addition, there are Rstica and Chicago pan pizza options on the menu that have an even thicker crust. The Rstica pizza is a one size square pizza with 12 small slices, starting at 25,900 pesos. And the Chicago pan pizzas are available only as the medium size with eight slices and are priced from 27,500 to 36,500 pesos.

I personally like Papa Johns pizza for an occasional variety from all the thin-crust pizzerias in Medelln. My Colombian wife also really likes Papa Johns. And with its expansion there is now one near enough to where we live in Sabaneta that we can order delivery.

Also, keep in mind these U.S.-based chains expanding in Colombia employee Colombians and provide more dining options. In addition, while you may not like to see these U.S.-based chains expanding there are plenty of Colombian chains expanding as well.

I completely agree. Those franchises destroyed America turning Americans into obese and unhealthy people and it is beginning here too. Our way of life is infecting the world. High fat, high carb, high price. Junk food. Poor quality highly processed.

Spanning 6 million square feet, the $4 billion retail and entertainment complex will be about twice the size of the nation's current largest mall, the King of Prussia Mall in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

Set to be located on undeveloped land off the Florida Turnpike, the American Dream Miami will look more like an amusement park than a traditional, dumbbell-shaped mall. The complex will feature a water park with a giant indoor pool, an indoor ice rink, an artificial ski slope, "submarine" rides, dozens of restaurants, and up to 1,200 stores.

Some Miami locals also have concerns regarding the development's potential water and energy use and impact on the city's stormwater system. During a meeting of the Miami-Dade County Commission on May 17, Miami resident Megan Sorbo called the project "an environmental abomination," $4 to the Herald. Environmentalists from the Sierra Club noted that the mega-mall will be in a low-lying area of Miami, putting the development at greater risk of flooding as well.

Miami's new complex could provide a more viable model for struggling malls and malls of the future. Unlike traditional suburban centers, the American Dream Miami focuses on experiential attractions, with the water park and ice rink to reside in the atrium. The project fits into the genre of "destination malls," which are often located near urban centers and attract visitors from the entire region rather than only people who live nearby.

"The emergence of entertainment as part of the shopping mall is becoming very important," he said. "It keeps people in the center longer. And even if they weren't going to shop for something, they get lured in."

The Chunxi Road Business Zone used to be the largest and most popular shopping districts in the early nineties even though the shopping area was just a single pedestrian street in downtown Chengdu in the past, but now it has developed and spread to become much larger, covering several city blocks and spilling over in all directions.

Raffles City offers a breath of fresh air for both local and foreigners in Chengdu. Unlike other shopping centres, Raffles City is almost pure international flavour: more than 70% of all outlets are the types of foreign brands you would find at a comparable mall back home, including a spectacular grocery store, TREAT, which carries an incredibly large selection of foreign groceries at affordable prices. Raffles City is a mixed-use development, so the complex includes retail, food, entertainment outlets, and office space.
