Hey ya'll,

Sorry for the late notice, but there's an election tonight that has
pro-bike candidates on the ballot and they need our vote.

Neighborhood Councils might seem like small potatoes, but they
actually influence how local dollars and spent and how local decisions
are made.

Usually the decision about whether or not to stripe a section of bike
lane or create a section of bike boulevard is considered a local
decision.

As a co-founder of the UCLA Bike Coalition, I've worked on getting
bike lanes and routes around Westwood and I've seen how important it
is to have the Neighborhood Council's support. It's like a free pass
for the City Council Member to say that the community supports the
bike lane.

SO... please come out and vote for the Westwood Bruins slate tonight!
Their campaign website clearly states that they consider bicycling a
priority:

"Objective 2: Promote improvements to the neighborhoods pedestrian and
bicycle infrastructure.

* Push the City of Los Angeles to address deteriorating streets
and a growing pot-hole problem.
* Reduce the deficit in official bicycle parking.
* Advocate for more bikeways, bikepaths, and sharrow's in the
neighborhood, and work with the City of Los Angeles and the County to
push for the complete implementation of the regional bike master
plan."

ANYONE can declare a stake in Westwood and vote tonight. How: you go
to

Westwood Recreation Center
1350 Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90024
(just south of the Federal Building)
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Ask for a business ballot.

Let's make sure these pro-bike candidates WIN!

PS if anyone is interested in riding to vote from the downtown LA
area, I'll be doing that at some point today, so message me.
