INVITATION
Pennsylvania Walks and Bikes Summit – May 4, 2011
Every year, PA Walks and Bikes brings together pedestrian and bicycle
advocates, coalition partners, and other friends to gather at the
State Capital.
We have one essential purpose: to show Harrisburg that having safe and
convenient places for walking and bicycling are essential for
Pennsylvania’s communities.
WHAT: Join walking and biking advocates, enthusiasts, and industry
professionals for a day of networking and advocacy at our state
capitol. The day’s events will include:
• A group walk and ride to the Capitol step where we will rally for
support for bicycle and pedestrian friendly policies.
• Luncheon presentation by Jeff Peel of the League of American
Bicyclists followed by a discussion of how to improve Pennsylvania’s
bicycle friendly state ranking.
• Meetings with members of the General Assembly to discuss the
specific changes that are needed to improve walking and biking
opportunities in the state.
• If one-on-one meetings do not appeal to you, you can assist with our
literature blitz to the offices of every single member of the General
Assembly.
WHEN: The Summit will take place on May 4, 2011 beginning at 9:00 AM.
Formal events will conclude by 2:00 with legislative meetings
continuing based on the availability of elected officials.
WHERE: Summit participants will gather on City Island in Harrisburg to
initiate the event with a short walk and ride to the Capitol. Bicycle
rentals are available
DETAILS: The cost for full summit participation is $20, including
lunch. Participation in the ride and rally alone is free.
