Hi Emma,

Hope you are doing well! If you are able, can you please share this information with your SVBC members? Thanks in advance!

The City of San Mateo is excited to announce the upcoming Citywide Bike Tour, which is part of the community outreach for the Bike Master Plan Update. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 from 10am-1pm at Central Park, 50 E. 5th Avenue. Registered participants will go on a guided group bike ride and stop at key locations part of the updated plan, including a separated bike lane demonstration.

Details and registration for this free event are posted here: sanmateobiketour.eventbrite.com.

I’ve attached a flyer that you can share as well, if possible.

Thank you!

Sue-Ellen

I'm sure not all of those signed up will show to this bike ride.

Also, it was publicized in a way that is in violation of SB1000 and the good practice that we modeled with our bike ride (that it's modeled after) and was also suggested by Greg St. Clair, the Sustainability & Infrastructure commissioner.

You can;t use email only to publicize city events, especially those with a social justice element. Not cool.

Sorry, it is totally not the case that the whole city is on the city email list.
This is going to be addressed. The city clerk knows there is poor outreach, and it has to be addressed at City Hall.

Also, as we saw with our bike ride, only a few of the folks who signed up via the city email actually showed. The majority were there because of my flyers.

Thanks for spreading the word, Emma. Unfortunately, this event has a limit of 50 participants, and the city has announced this event is now full (though, in a way, that's not the worst news, as it should mean we'll have a good turnout!)

That said, anyone interested in giving input and/or getting updates on San Mateo's Bicycle Master Plan Update are still invited to come to the city's table at Central Park at 12:30 p.m. this Sat Mar 23. More info can be found here: https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/3944/Bicycle-Master-Plan-Update

Cordially,
Adam

Thanks for these updates everyone! Sorry to hear the sign up is full, though that is a good sign, and I think you can probably still show up if you're interested.
