We are hiring a post-doc for a one year project called "mobilletic" on smart card data analysis with a focus on inter-modality between bike-share and public transport.

Further details are available on the project website and a short summary follow :

The Applicant will work within the context of the Mobilletic project funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR). This project aims to use and compare different sources on mobility practices within a metropolitan area with a particular focus on data collected by smart card which allows to simultaneously record trips achieved by different modes of transport (Bus, Metro, Bicycle Sharing System, Park&Ride). The analysis as well as the comparison of this source of information with more conventional data as Household Travel Surveys will allow to better understand and analyze people mobility and especially inter-modality practices (successive use of different modes of transport in the course of the same trip). These massive and spatio-temporal data raise some research questions, challenges and opportunities that are at the core of the Mobilletic project.

Within this context the applicant will participate to the data collection, edition and mining of a massive mobility data set collected on the city of Rennes. The applicant will work in a multidisciplinary team including statistician, computer scientist, planner and transport expert. The candidate will have the charge of developing dedicated tools for the analysis and the visualization of these massive data. This work is intended to improve the understanding of the intrinsic characteristics of each mode of transport, as well as the articulation between different modes of transport. The final goal is to identify obstacles and levers to encourage the use of Public Transport and other modes of mobility especially soft modes (shared bicycles ...).
