Nicole,

Does the Hausman Road project include bicycle facilities?

It sounds like "all" we have to do to improve Hausman for both automobile and bicycle traffic is to get Hausman onto the next recommended list for Bond projects and get voters to approve the bonds. Is this correct?

Best Regards,

Hi Christina,

The original Hausman project, which was on the prioritized list but never on the recommended list, was to reconstruct and widen Hausman from IH10 to Loop 1604 at a cost estimate of $40.9M.  The Committee reviewed several other projects as alternatives to the recommended and prioritized lists.  Staff was asked by the committee to provided Level II estimates for these projects (Listing of Additional Projects for the Streets and Sidewalks Committee) before, during or after the meetings.  Among those cost estimating requests was to consider phasing Hausman Rd:

* Hausman Reconstruction Ph 1 (Loop 1604 to E. of Roadrunner way): $14.419M
* Hausman Reconstruction Ph 2 (E. of Roadrunner way to W. of Langston): $14.620M
* Hausman Reconstruction Ph 1 (W. of Langston to IH10):  $13.717M

The projects were to reconstruct and widen their stretch of Hausman to include drainage, sidewalks and upgraded traffic signals.

The Committee did not select any of these projects for their final recommendation list.  Council did not select any of these projects for their final recommendation lists.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks!

Christy,

Thanks for the information. I heard at the Leon Creekway opening yesterday that Hausman was on a priority list but didn't make it onto the 2007-2012 Bond Program. According to the minutes of the Streets & Sidewalks Committee there may be more details about the cost and project. Who would I contact to find out more about the proposal?

Thanks,

Robert Davidson

Good morning,

We have the Hausman projects on our potential future bond program list
and I can add the request for bike lanes. We work with the Bike
coordinator and traffic engineers on bike lanes, so I don't' want to
say there will be bike lanes but will add the request so that issue
can be looked at on each project. Once we get closer to the bond
program, the projects will need to be reviewed for scope and the costs
re-estimated.

The City is anticipating the next bond program for 2012 so we'll begin
the review process in 2011. There have been no set dates on when the
election will be held and the Council will have to make the decision
to hold the election. I would like to encourage you and others who
would like to see these or any projects on the bond program to keep an
eye out (www.sanantonio.gov/2007bond or www.sanantonio.gov) for the
public meetings the City will have. I expect we will have the similar
committees as before and having individuals attend and/or send
comments will highlight these projects (among hundreds of other
projects).

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
