North of 1604 Hausman is known at 1560 to TX DOT. Ken Zigrang, the TX
DoT representative to the S.A Bicycle Mobility Advisory Council has
made two proposals for 1560.
1. Add 4' shoulders to each side.
2. Make it a 4 lane road with bicycle lanes on each side.

I am leaning toward bicycle lanes because I believe that they will
allow children to use Hausman, not just experienced adult cyclists.
Would anyone prefer 4' shoulders?

Best Regards,

Bike Lanes are the way to go as this indicates that cyclists travel on
TX roads too, and have a dedicate part of the road. 4' shoulders just
allow cars to pass others when they are turning. 1560 is a bad road
for cyclists, however Hausman between 1604 and Babcock is a cyclists
nightmare - rough roads, potholes, no shoulder, broken glass...the
list goes on.

Thought I'd replied....but I guess not. Cycle Lanes are the way to go
as they indicate that cyclist have the right to be on the road and
have their own dedicated space. Shoulders simply give cars room to
move over into them when cars in front are turning. 1560 is a bad
road, however Hausman between 1604 and Babcock is a cyclists nightmare
- rough road, no shoulder, potholes, broken glass....this needs to be
addressed too.
