Here is the brochure I am putting in the John Igo Library, Soler's Tri
Sports and Sage Cycles advertising the workshop.

Please feel free to print and distribute to those who should attend.

Is anyone out there?

I would welcome feedback on the brochure.

Thanks,

Robert

Robert,

The brochure looks pretty good to me. I would suggest using a more universal format than word: I've attached a PDF version that I created from the .doc file you made available. Since I used Open Office, not Microsoft Word, to produce it, there might be some differences: see what you think. For general distribution the PDF file might be better, and it sometimes opens right in the web browser window when viewed from a web page, instead of requiring a download and viewing with a separate application.
HTML might be even better as a format for web viewing; you could try saving it as a "web page" (HTML) and see what the output looks like.
I'm not sure what "Complete Streets" is: is it a name for a program? I assume so, but many people might not be aware of what it is, so maybe some short explanation might be in order. I also think that "bicycle-friendly" and "pedestrian-friendly" should be hyphenated, but I don't know. The statement in which the words occured was something like "bicycle and pedestrian friendly" and I'm thinking that the correct way to write this might be "bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly", but it's kind of awkward, and I'm not sure it's used much, anyway.

Frank Huddleston

Hi Robert;

I second Frank's comments; except I don't care about they hyphenation. (Frank; are you using Linux, too?) Please consider; in answer to your flyer's question "Who are the BMAC and PMAC?" an introductory statement like "They plan the future of bicycle and pedestrian access for Bexar County."

I too have attached a PDF, removing the blank 2nd page, pulling the space before "Hector Garcia, Stinson" and adding my introductory statement. (A free PDF creator is available here.)

Please consider contacting "Hank Cunningham" <Helo...@texas.net> at Helotes Bicycle. Hank is a tireless and staunch advocate of bicycling and an excellent bicycle mechanic. I'm sure he would contribute more than just his shop name to your wonderful activity!

Good Morning,

I think it is fantastic everyone is getting involved with promoting the workshop.  It would be wonderful to have a great turnout.

However, since this is a MPO workshop and has our logo on it; I must get “buy in” from the deputy director for this brochure and then we can print some on our printer.  How were you going to get them printed?

Please use only helmet wearing cyclists.  I understand it isn’t a law; but we promote helmet wearing and try to only use pictures of cyclists with helmets.

I appreciate all the support for this workshop.  I thank each of you.

Please let me see the final version as soon as possible and I’ll run it by my boss.

Best regards,

Lydia

If we are going to reduce transportation congestion and carbon emissions, we must reduce the amount of driving we do.  Try walking, bicycling and/or transit and improve your own health as you make your community more livable.  Each person really can make a difference. Thank you

Lydia - I just print them off on my laser printer. It looks remarkably good. I'll look for helmet wearing cyclists. With any luck I'll find one with a top tube as well.

Hank - if you would like me to customize it to say "Would you like to feel safe walking or biking to the Helotes Bicycle Shop?" on the front, I would be happy to do so and run off a batch if you would like to distribute them.

Thank you all for the corrections and formatting tips!

Best Regards,

Robert Davidson

Lydia,

Here is the final version:
http://groups.google.com/group/bikenwsa/web/MPOBrochure.doc
Please let me know if any changes need to be made - all cyclists are
wearing helmets now...

Thanks again to all for the corrections. I am leaving in Word format
since this is supposed to be a paper doc and I'd like to be able to
customize it easily for specific sites.

Best Regards,

Robert
