Hi all,
The Bike MS: Suncoast Challenge is just 5 weeks, 1 day, and 8 hours away! (I only know this since the Society has a countdown on their page.) According to the Society’s website, there are 436 registered participants already, with the opportunity for a last-minute push for more. For those who are unfamiliar with this ride’s new format, this ride is now a 1-day tour in and out from North Sarasota, heading south into the Venice area. Those of you in this group have previously donated your time and efforts to Bike MS rides in various parts of Mid-Florida, both old and new format.
For many years, Mike and Dana have graciously donated their time and energy to leading the efforts to provide communications for this ride. And while they will be supporting this ride again on the route, they are stepping back from a leadership role for the time being. For this year, Scott Roberts (KK4ECR) and I will be coordinating communications for this ride. Scott is the communications coordinator for North Florida Bike MS ride, and I am the SAG/comms coordinator for the South Florida ride.
Many of you received an email from Briana earlier today enlisting your help. We are looking for your support for the ride once again. We need volunteers to act as rest stop communicators, SAG drivers, and hopefully an experienced net control station or two to keep order on the radio. If you are interested in participating, please feel free to reach out so we can start filling in the roster. We will be looking for around 10 SAG drivers, plus the rest stop operations. Below shows the rest stops and hours of service.
As I’m sure many of you know, MS is a disease for which there is no known cure. Our support to this ride helps raise funds to continue research toward a cure. I doubt there’s many in this group who doesn’t know someone affected by MS. Let’s help find a cure!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Good afternoon,
Unfortunately, I have a previous commitment for a business trip that weekend so I will not be able to help this year. I’ll miss it!
