Hi all,

Hope everyone had a great holiday season. There have been quite a few changes at the Society. Lilly, who worked locally in event production on this ride, left the Society a few months ago. Then there was a round of layoffs, which saw Lauren Trager get laid off after many years with them. Terrible decision, but I digress. Lauren landed well though. She is now working for PromoterLine, the event production company contracted to help run the 3 Florida rides, and is actively working on all of them. I’ve talked to her, along with Society staff this week, and this is where we are.

The start line and general route are the same. The County is not allowing use of the Legacy Trail, due to new rules surrounding the number of events they allow on the trail, something related to angry citizens upset about organized rides taking up the trail. Because of this, there are still some details to be worked out regarding that portion of the route. But, we shouldn’t expect great variance from last year.

So, we are looking for the usual staffing to help with the ride. We need rest stop operators and we need SAG drivers. I’m drawing on you, the many hams who have participated in this event year after year, to set aside Saturday March 28th to help with this amazing event, helping us fundraise to find a cure for MS.

If you are available to assist that Saturday, please feel free to reach out to me directly. We no longer have the website Mike previously ran for event coordination, so I will manage the roster and participants, along with distributing materials needed. I am doing so from 150+ miles away, so I appreciate your help and support not being a local.

For now, the communication plan is tentatively the same. Once we confirm the exact route and see a map, we will finalize our request to use the NI4CE analog and digital systems.

If you are interested, please reach out to me directly.

Hi Brandon. Thanks for leading the way with this. I'm glad the Legacy trail will no longer be part of the route. It was a pain anyway. Yes I can be a SAG again. I was SAG1 serving as tail end Charlie.
